We're Back!!

I know we've been AWOL for a while, but now we're back... and better than ever if I may say so myself :)

Since the last time I wrote, there have been big changes for Daisy Creek Designs. Business got to the point where I just couldn't keep up on my own, so (since the company that my husband had been working for wanted him to be away from home 2 more nights a week) we decided to have him quit his job and do this with me full time. It's crazy, I know! But it was the best decision that we've made!

We not only have our Etsy sales, but we also are now getting busier on our website and are in 8 retail locations close to home in Northern California. We are working on getting a sales rep (or two!!) and look forward to branching out of our area. So... keep your eyes open for our awesome new designs - I will start posting them this week!!

Thanks for being so supportive!!

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit.

HAPPY EGGS BENEDICT DAY!!

Eggs have been a part of our everyday cuisine for centuries - even before Egyptian times! Maybe due to ease of preparation or availability or maybe even because often times eggs would be found where people where hunting birds for food. Regardless, eggs are a part of our food history and the dish, Eggs Benedict, is certainly one with a fun story describing how it came to be.

The origin of Eggs Benedict is thought to be one of two tales. Both occuring in the late 1800's at a posh New York hotel and both involve people with the last name Benedict. The first tale reports of a wealthy woman who was unable to find anything to her liking on the menu and together with the maitre d, concocted what we now know of as Eggs Benedict.

The second, more whimsical tale, reports of a hungover Wall Street-er who made his way through a breakfast buffet slapping bacon and eggs on buttered toast and topping it with Hollandaise sauce. After seeing what he had done, the maitre d substituted ham for bacon and an english muffin for toast... making what we now know of as Eggs Benedict.

Which one is true? We'll never know! (But it sure makes for a great story, doesn't it???)

Those Amazing Little Eggs!

With International Eggs Benedict Day just around the corner, I just had to share with you just how amazing those little eggs are!!

Did you know???

* the main purpose of the egg is to nourish new life until it is strong enough to live on it's own??

* eggs have lots of vitamins like riboflavin and B12 (plus all sorts of other important minerals) ??

* eggs have a shelf life in your refridgerator for up to 60 days and egg whites can be frozen for up to a year??

* eggs are used to make some of America's favorite foods: omletes, quiche and deviled eggs??

* that eggs have become the symbol for spring... not only because they represent new life, but also because chickens naturally lay very few eggs in the winter and only start to make more when the spring sun starts to shine??

* and who can forget how cute they look in an Easter basket??

The last few days have been CRAZY around here - rain, rain, more rain, power outages (not us yet - knock on wood!), students who are stir crazy - literally! - and an incredibly lllooooooonnnnnngg list of things that I need to get done.

And then I get this lovely message from Anna over at Imogen's Garden letting me know that she's written about the DIY Clip Kits that I sent over to her and her daughters to try out. Oh how she brightened my day!!
Go by and check it out - she's so sweet (and I'm so proud)! (Imogen's Garden Blog)

One Of My Favorites... zuzu girl handmade

Kristi, the magician behind zuzu girl, was probably one of the first friends that I made on Etsy. I had joined the EtsyMoms team and noticed her banner and avatar right away. They were fresh and fun and after checking out her shop, I thought to myself - WOW! This lady is talented!! Lucky for me, she is just as sweet and we quickly started "talking" in the threads.

A while back, I had listed my first Paint It Yourself tee and Kristi commented on how much she liked it. Hoping to get some good feedback from someone whose opinion I trusted and valued, I quickly sent one to her for her daughter Zuzu to enjoy. (see blog post here: http://zuzugirlhandmade.blogspot.com/2009/11/paint-it-yourself.html ) The best part about it all was that she was sweet enough to send me a little somethin' somethin' in return.

Now, I know - it's been forever since she sent these darling goodies to me and I have not one good excuse for it taking me so long to post this. All I can say is that my darling, little girl (part dinosaur lover, part princess) LOVES this headband and pony holders!! She asks for them everyday! Everytime anyone sees her wearing them, she always gets compliments. Which then prompts her to want to wear them more! But that's ok :) I'd love to be able to send some sales her way!

SO.... if you love what she sent Paige, you HAVE to check out her shop! She has absolutely adorable accessories (say that 5 times fast!), an amazing eye for colors and an incredible attention to detail. You will not be disappointed!!
